Joel Creasey may be the new kid on the comedy block but it certainly looks like he’s here to stay.
The honest confessions of a ‘boy from Perth’ who is proclaimed a ‘loser, wimp, sop’ and even down right ‘pussy’ is without tricks, gimmicks and thankfully – terrible puns. Spanning the odd 23 years of his existenceCreasey confessed to us the drunken antics of his parents, his obsession with a New Zealand princess, his regime as drama lord and with complete honesty and perhaps much glee – how it was completely understandable that people in his past (and maybe even his present) consider him to be a complete diva. To his credit Creasey does reveal the ‘naked’ truth – an array of facts that occasionally shock, and disturb but mostly create some laugh-out-loud moments.
One of the most exciting things about the comedy festival is that you never know who’s going to make it big and if that little act in the lunchroom (very appropriately named for a swag of school jokes) would make it to the big stage. Could Creasey be the new cream of the crop? Maybe. It may all come down to who does his voiceovers.
